“ Such Delicate, beautiful piano sound…”
Acclaimed by the famous Italian piano maker FAZIOLI, K orea
native Yoonjung Han, 21, received the “Most Promising
Young Artist” award from the Korean Minister of Culture.
She has amazed audiences world wide, performing at the Juilliard
Theater, San Rocco Theater in Milan, University of Florida,
University of Houston, Eastman Theater, SeJong Concert Hall,
Chopin Hall, Curtis Field Concert Hall, Ishikawa Cultural
Center in Japan, Sarasota Opera House, Orford Arts Center
and Villa Vertramka Mozart museum in the Czech Republic. Alongside
her solo achievements, she is also an enthusiastic chamber
musician featured at the Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center,
Juilliard Morse Hall, Curtis Field Concert Hall and the Aspen
Area and Sarasota music festivals.
At age 9, she won a gold medal at the Samick Piano Competition.
A s the winner of the Seoul Philharmonic Young Artists Competition,
she made her solo debut at age 13 with the Seoul Philharmonic
Orchestra at the Sejong Concert Hall. Most recently she has
performed as a soloist with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra,
the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and the Orchestra
I Pomeriggi Mus ic ali. In past years she has also collaborated
with the Juilliard Symphony, Pottstown Symphony and Yewon
Chamber Orchestra . Ms . Han has frequently appeared on both
WQXR and National Public Radio ’s young artist showcases.
Most recently, Ms. Han won first prize in the 2005 Kosciuszko
Foundation Chopin Competition , and second prize at the Concorso
Pianistico Internazionale Ettore Pozzoli. Previous first prizes
were won in the Juilliard Mozart Piano Concerto Competition,
the Juilliard Frederich Nordmann Piano Competition, the Music
Teacher s National Association Competition, the Korea National
Music Competition, the Friday Woodmere Music Competition,
the Ishikawa Young Artists Award and the Korea Herald Competition.
Yoonjung Han graduated from the Yewon Arts Elementary School
with the special musical award, and from Seoul Arts High School
with the highest honor s . In 2003 she graduated from the
Juilliard School Precollege Division, winning the Frederich
Nordmann Piano full scholarship. She is c urrently studying
at the Curtis Institute of Music with distinguished piano
pedagogue Eleanor Sokoloff , and holds the Yvonne K. Druian
full fellowship.
